Facebook is channeling its earliest days as a hot-or-not website for college students with a new feature called Secret Crush. Think of it like matching on Tinder or Bumble, except you get to hand-pick the specific friends you want to date ahead of time, instead of hoping their profiles show up in the queue. What could go wrong? The object of their affection is then left to wonder who may have a crush on them, with no way to find out. The feature will be available only in countries where Facebook has rolled out its Dating serviceincluding Colombia, Canada, Thailand, Argentina, and Mexico, as well as 14 new countries in Asia and South America introduced today. The dating site GoodCrush, first launched at Princeton University inalso had a nearly identical premise.
Then, all of a sudden, it happens.
The solution might lie in Facebook Dating 's latest feature, called "Secret Crush" — that is if you're lucky and your crush likes you back. The in-app Dating feature in Facebook, newly launched in the Philippines and 18 countries today, mainly matches users with non-friends, and optionally friends of friends, who have also opted to use Facebook Dating. But the Secret Crush feature gives users the option to list up to nine secret crushes among their friends. If their crush is also in Facebook Dating, they will receive a notification that someone has a crush on them.
